FolksbieneRU and JCH in Park Slope introduce Kids Drama LAB. A place where questions are encouraged and the answers are found through fun activities and theatre games. The kids are given a chance to explore their Russian Jewish Identity, get to know their own family history, and share personals stories. The result of these discoveries will culminate in an onstage performance, where the kids are given a chance to not only showcase their acting skills, but also share their stories, in their own words, with their families and friends. The program is taught by internationally acclaimed actors of the Lost & Found Theater Project.
Sergey Nagorny has been with the Teen Drama Lab for 2 years and has worked with kids and young adults from both the Upper West Side and Brooklyn. Together with the LAB’s participants he has created 3 wonderful shows for young actors: The School of Life, When I Am Young Again, and Letters to Babushka. Every group of young participants brings something new and exciting to The Lab, something unique and wonderful, something that longs to be discovered. According to Sergey, the quest for that discovery is the engine behind every Teen Drama LAB.
